Ability to "hide" alerts without disabling them

Ability to "hide" alerts without disabling them

I'm working on an experiment to replace the vanilla alerts GUI with a "better" one, with an alert history and more details. As a part of this, I wish to also fix alerts crossing surfaces. To do this, I wish to prevent the game from showing alerts on the map itself, so my mod can do it instead.

However, if you "mute" an alert, all it does is mute the audio. And if you "disable" an alert, it's disabled entirely, so there's no way for my mod to know it exists in the first place. Hence, I would like to be able to also "hide" alerts without actually disabling them, so I can do my own alerts on the map while still being able to tell that they exist.
