LuaTrain weight_modifier

Would it be possible to change train weight, not per entity but for entire LuaTrains? Simply a Lua-controlled modifier that gets added to the total train weight, if that can be done. This would be great for mods adding weight to train cargo, adding dead weight purposefully for more biter-crushing power, etc,
