I just accidentally saved over a save in which I had 50+ hours

If you caught it early enough it is possible that one of your autosaves is still a snapshot of that old save....

I would think that he has overwritten another save, which has nothing to do with the now-played game. But yeah, it could be worth a try.

Indeed, I made a save '2', and accidentally overwrote '1'

Have you tried checking if Windows (if you use that) stored a previous version? (right click the save file, properties, there's a tab for that)
I once got an older version of a minecraft save back that way, but I kinda doubt it'll work here. Still worth a try

This is why backups come in handy
