TrueCrypt Insecure? WTF?

Post by FreeER »

So I just went to the Truecrypt website today and... I get redirected to their sourceforge page and see THIS:
WARNING: Using TrueCrypt is not secure as it may contain unfixed security issues
when did this happen?! in the paragraph below it states
The development of TrueCrypt was ended in 5/2014 after Microsoft terminated support of Windows XP. Windows 8/7/Vista and later offer integrated support for encrypted disks and virtual disk images.
I can find no reason for the development to be ended (even the first phase of the audit shows relatively minor issues that can be easily corrected), and wtf does XP and integrated support have anything to do with development??? I'm not going to pay M$ a crap ton of money for their Professional/Ultimate BitLocker service (even if I actually trusted M$) and their 'what to do' for Linux simply states to search the available packages for 'crypt' (If TrueCrypt is insecure, and there's no mention of why it is, how the ____ am I suppose to believe that those are secure?)

Okay, rant over!
