I'm currently working on a new Roboport for the mod that my friend and I have been working on, while looking at the roboport's files I noticed the patch.png file and am wondering what this file actually does. My friend and I thought that maybe it was used to 'hide' the drone when they go into the port but wanted to post and see if anyone knows as we might be wrong in our theory.

Patches are used on more than just the roboport, such as the boiler; essentially, a patch is used anywhere that requires more control over layering to get the correct visual effect. With the boiler, the east orientation has a small patch to ensure part of the boiler isn't hidden behind either the attached pipe or the pipe cover, on the wide part of the boiler. On the roboport, the patch is used to draw over top of drones that are entering/exiting.
