I found the following:

If the train is in a station and its fuel is drained out the train is empty and cannot drive ofcourse. After a bot deliverd new fuel cells (nuclear) the stack inserter does not insert the fuel cells in the train (in automatic mode) so the train remains without fuel. If i set the train to manual it will be filled by the stack inserters with nuclear fuel.

I need to mention that the Requester chest didn't had turned "request from buffer chests" on. So that is why my train did drain out of fuel. After i turned that on the fuel cells did get deliverd by the bots but didn't get inserted in the train as mention above.

Is this a potiential bug or common behavior?

Is the train waiting at a station, or is it trying (unsuccessfully, due to lack of fuel) to drive to the next station?

If it is waiting, please post a save showing the train refusing to load. If it's trying unsuccessfully to travel, that's expected. Trains on automatic but not waiting at a station will not be loaded, unloaded, or refueled.

You're mixing two things so I'm not sure which you're using: "Nuclear fuel" OR "Uranium fuel cell"

The fuel CELL cannot be inserted into a train, that's for reactors only. If that's what's in the chest this isn't a bug.
If you're trying with actual nuclear fuel, switch the train to manual for a second so it can load some fuel. After that it should be able to load automatically on its return to the station.

Yes, Either it is in automated mode and not in a station yet, so in that case it isn't available for inserters to avoid getting random things when passing different stations.
Or it is wrong fuel type which can't be used.
