Removed the option to turn off the item groups and sub groups from the GUi. It can still be done through the config file or lua commands.

Its quite annoying that those options where removed.

Its the only setting i usally change, with lots of mods i find it easer to use the search bar on top to find an item.
Hopefully they consider placing back the option.

Already did that, but that would make this the change i would need to do on config files outside of factorio, never did that in the past years. and i don't prefur doing that.

Honestly that's a bad decision to remove it from the options menu.

You can still find them in the config.ini file as use-item-groups and use-item-subgroups

Hey Twinsen thanks for replying. I was wondering if I could get some insight into why it was removed? It seems really counter intuitive now.

The only reason why i use those two option is, that i can search fast.

This poster of this post had explained it very well.

With recipe groups, type e^Frret and you don't see turrets unless you had the military tab open last craft/pick, type e^Feac and you can't see all the reactors, what you see, if anything, just "depends", and not on what you're looking for.

But when you disable recipe groups, even with major expansions like bob's just about everything has a convenient left-hand-only e^F sequence that gets what you want sitting pretty for a quick and predictable click, everything committable to muscle memory.

Why should navigating search results depend on what you did ten minutes ago, possibly in another map? My answer: it shouldn't. That's why I dislike recipe groups. It's hard to appreciate just how much of a burden they impose until you've got some practice with the better way. Please don't take that away.
When you can search trough every item catogory, without clicking the tabs to find the tab where the item is found, would fix my issue.
Just show the results of all tabs if your searching.
