[0.15.18] Construction Bots never charge on busy roboport

I can observe some construction bots never get a chance to recharge on a roboport if that roboport has a steady stream of logistic bots queueing up for recharging.

This may be partially intentional. But in my opinion this is a bug. Bots should recharge in order of arrival.

What happens is they will just stay in queue forever until the steady stream of logistic bots is broken, then they charge normally

It currently works this way for performance reasons. If you don't have enough roboports to charge all robots then the real problem is a lack of roboports and not the order of them charging.

i am pretty sure i have enough roboports, it's just that a single bottleneck on a route is enough to trigger that problem.

1968 cells in the network serving slightly over 20k logi bots and 1k construction bots, that's only like 10 bots per roboport.

a better solution would be to release the construction bot(s) from the port and let it/them search for a different roboport, not simply push it to the end of the queue and never give it a chance to get free

If a given robot never charges then that means the roboport(s) you have built aren't enough to charge all of your robots which means you need more.

The roboport(s) will charge as fast as they can which means no matter the order robots charge it's always working as fast as it can.

i understand what you are "trying to say" but the main problem here is: that i see i have not enough roboports in !!!a specific area!!! of the map, but i don't see where that construction bot is... There is no chance for me to find it. i am totally fine to have logistic bots queue up tens of roboports in specific areas as they will not reduce the throughput, just increase active logistic bots (makes no sense but works that way).

However such a place then works like a deathtrap for construction bots. And i can not prevent them from going through such areas...

anyway, this is rather a low priority (design) 'bug' and 3 out of 4 bots unstuck after like 10 hours game time...
