Yesterday, I tried for the first a multiplayer game (after playing for +400 hours ), which works as expected.

But someone, pointed me to my username,, which is my e-mail address. So I tried to change this on the website https://www.factorio.com/change-username after a valid login. But I get "Invalid characters in username. Please use only alphanumeric characters and .- " while I have a valid e-mail address with only a-z0-9@. in it.

Second think I notice, and i think, i tried to change my username in the game. Is that on the website, it show my correct username [ wica ] but in the game it is still my e-mail address.

I hope my bug description is clear.

Well i have the same issue.

My workaround for this was;
After a succesfull login in the game, go to options, and change your ingame there.
Tought this also gives an error, but restart factorio, and go back to options, and it wil say "the new name = also login name)
When you enter a game, you will see the new name.

And I did not get the error.

I'm not sure I understand, your usernames are not your email addresses and you are not allowed to use @ in usernames.

Sorry my bad, I do think the error is valid. And I need to read better, instead of trusting my browser.

I did not realise that it was asking for a username, instead of my login information which my browser auto filled in.

Interesting, when i do i fresh install, and username and password is ask, i cannot login with my username, only email adress. At the options my useename defaultsto my email, that gives an error when reaplying, changing that to my username works.


My account was created in 2014,before steam release, amd multiplayer. Migration issue?

Should i change my username, that is currently my email, to my username on factorio website to fix this?

Your username is rorror, not your email address.

Ahh i just tested it.

You can use both your username and email adress to login to factorio.
When loggin in with your email, your email adres will default to your username.

1.) Login with email: 2.) Inlog with email succesvol. 3.) At settings your username = your email adress.
4.) login with username.
So i can use 2 usersnames to login to factorio, for me a bit confusing xD


So the big question now is, why does the "Update Login screen" accept email adresses, and the "Other Settings" menu not.

Seems to me there is stil a buggie at the "update login screen"

?

Maybe wica used the update login to, and thats why his email adres was shown in multiplayer.

Can someone change the subject of this post? And put it back to Bug Reports.

subject something like: [0.15.11] Trough Automatic updates, it is possible to use an email address as username.
