[0.15.x] Deconstructed rails persist on map view

Hi, searched but cannot find previous example, I'm not at my PC until Friday so cannot follow up immediately with additional, if it is needed.

I have a FARL train, 1-8-1, both engines facing the same way. In 'bulldozer' mode the train places rail in front and removes it behind. This allows the player to travel very long distances with minimal rail investment. Point in case, I traveled straight out from the base until I found iron patches in excess of 140M ore. When the FARL train is set to cruise mode it constructs and deconstructs rails very quickly, and I usually watch this event from the map view while performing non-factorio tasks on another monitor. The rails show in map view, but often remain visible after the train has passed. I became suspicious that the deconstruct had not worked so I circled back, but no rail was present, and it was then removed from the map view. However, the current state is that, from map view, I have thousands of tiles of rails places and a massive long network, but in actual fact these rails are fictional and will disappear once I visit the area in question once more.

TL;DR Rails removed by a fast moving FARL train will persist on the map view (I believe this actually persists between saves).

That is because the track removal is outside of the view range, sit in the back of the train to change that. NaB.

Hi, thanks for the response. Can I protest this not being a bug? I mean, I expect it to be of fairly low priority, but in my view it patently is a bug.

The map simply doesn't get updated when things in the world change, unless the chunk affected is within radar range (of the player or a radar station). The non-radar-covered chunks of the map are intended to be a stale snapshot of what they looked like the last time they were scanned; it's the fog of war.

The same thing happens for robot construction/deconstruction outside of radar range.

Okay fair enough. If riding the rear of the train really will 'fix' this then I'll be satisfied, though I like to travel long distances when in the map view so I hope that I don't need to maintain real-world view.

Thank you for the response.

Or use a shorter train maybe :)
