[0.13.10] final items in crafting queue not considered until finished

Hello,
  • Fixed that cunning cancellation of crafting orders could result in free items. (27459) As a result of this fix, your entire crafting queue will be lost when loading a save from 0.13.9 or earlier. We suggest that you finish or cancel all your crafting before upgrading.
After this fix it is not possible to craft items, which depends on the items in the crafting queue.

Steps to reproduce:
  • clear your inventory
  • insert 15 copper & 36 iron plates into your inventory
  • craft 10 electronic circuits and 12 gears
  • try to craft a lab
it is not possible until the 9/10 (see below) electronic circuits and 12 gears are finished

Or even simpler, try to craft 10 electronic circuits:
  • clear your inventory
  • insert 15 copper & 10 iron plates into your inventory
  • try to craft 10 electronic circuits with two right clicks (craft 5 items 2 times, this is important)
You only get 9 electronic circuits and one copper cable. After the first five are finished, you can craft the last one.

If you add more copper and iron, you get additional copper cables:
  • clear your inventory
  • insert 17 copper & 11 iron plates into your inventory
  • try to craft 10 electronic circuits with two right clicks (2x5)
Is it intentional or a unwanted side effect of the bugfix?

It's intentional. Almost every instance we could think of the new system is how we wanted it to end up working. When you craft 10 of X you almost always want 10 of X and for the next thing you craft to not use those items up.

I understand the new behavior for the final products. If I craft 5 inserter and 5 long inserter, I want the 10 inserters and not only the 5 long inserters.

But for me the most annoying part are the useless copper cables, which are left over if I craft many items, which use electric circuits specially in the early game.

this change is very annoying if one item can be crafted multiple ways
