When using wire to connect a belt to anything if you clear the connection with the wire i.e reclick to disconnect the wire the smart belts settings on that tile are retained and if u make that tile a smart belt again without destroying the belt it is recreated with the old settings and not reset. I hope that makes sense :p.

That's by design. Disconnecting the wire doesn't clear the settings on any entity.
