The building of mining posts as extensions of the main base causes them look like very long "L" s.
see example below
And when using chained roboports to support these bases and a request is made for an item this
causes the Logistic bots to "cut the corner" across biter land.
1. The travel distance is too far for the bot's energy use.
2. And its yum-yum time for the biters and some cases a construction robot with repair pack will to go it's aid
Suggest : logistic bots should before start of trip, pre-calculate energy requirements for trip distance.
and if too great then pick next closest roboport
or
just always follow next linked roboport
I do not think there is any help for construction bots because of the way they work.
Example
RB----RB----RB----RB-----RB
..\............................ |
....\.......................... |
......\........................ |
........\...................... RB
...........\................... |
.............\................. |
................\.............. |
..................\............ RB
....................\.......... |
.......................\....... |
..........................\.... |
.............................\ RB w/item
RB----RB = linked Roboports
…. = biter land
\ = Logistic bot route
Thanks for great game
logistic robots setting out on impossible journey
Re: logistic robots setting out on impossible journey
Hello,
we know about this problem and there is a change we will fix it in future versions by changing the robots to follow roboport paths, but it will not come until 0.13 or 0.14.
For now, the robots are considered quite simple, and it is up to the user to solve it, either by splitting networks, or by clearing the area in between.
