It's an usable item. You can use it to connect electric poles manually. It's in the same subcategory as Red Wire and Green wire.

I assumed logistics in Factorio was the transportation/storage of goods.

That tab made sense until this change.

But it is more often used as an intermediary product, for electronic circuits, advanced circuits and red/green wire. The number of times i have ever used copper cable to manually connect electric poles is very low, but i use it for electronic circuits everyday. It can be used, but its primary use is as an intermediary product
