I started my Space Age save yesterday. Today when I booted it up I got a notice of "Replay saving disabled: map saved with version 2.0.7 and current version is 2.0.8". (See attached image).

Next image is of my savefile showing that replay is not available.

The world settings are a slightly modified Rail World. I did enable replay saving (obviously) when I created the world.

Thanks for the report, this is working as intended. Updating the game or mods could lead to desyncs in the replay because it only stores input actions, so this feature is disabled if either happens.

That's a shame - I was hoping to see the Space Age factory replay once finished. Do I thus need to start a new game and disable updates for this to work?

Yes. And like Genhis said, you also cannot add/remove/upgrade mods.
