Given that mines produce unlimited ore at constant throughput but are very rare (IIRC), there's also another reason to go as far down the chain as possible - it means needing to find fewer mines to fuel a base.

Limited. Mines arent forever. :)

Wait, then what's the advantage over a standard ore patch again? (Or is the idea to phase out ore patches in favour of mines?)

Concentration. You can get way more in a mine than in an average ore patch.

very nice progress - the new Cliff mining robots remind me of "take me to your leader" :)
and the latest Phosphate mining is cool like those MRI scan devices :)

i saw some Pyrite on the Nickel Chart.... https://i.imgur.com/xoKDPOa.jpg
is there any more info on pyrite? such as could there be a very small chance that if we run Pyrite through an automated Screener, could it find a Fossilised Pyrite? This could be rare, (since its rare ores) but could then be processed into a bit of Organic Matter, or even possibly further analysed into 10 research packs? :)
(also me from the mod portal - im not dustine lol) = https://mods.factorio.com/mods/Dustine/ ... ssion/9108

Good ideas. Didnt have plans to change science packs. Pyrite will be splitted into sulfur and iron somehow.

we already have the quartz and aluminium done. Started chromium, but need to add some special stuff to make them fully functional. Also, we added half of the machines too.

Things are going so good that we expanded this mod to a smelting part too. Now if you prepare the ore for smelting, you can get even better yields. But also have the price of size and resource/energy consumption. Anyway, adapt your level of refinement to your ore abundance and necessity :)

Here what you need for a production of chromium at 150/m . Of course im using creative mod to save time with the fluids and such. Its the full mk04 chain. You wont be able to build a chain like that in the beginning.

Yes... basically, all metals can pass through the furnaces if you want better yields.
