I have 4 big copper smelter (8 station each) and 3 iron smelter.

When i need to plates for green circuit production LTN choose stations thats far away from production and newer use number 1 smelters until i'm turned off another. Screen and save included.

LTN picks providers in order: provide number of trains already en route to the stop > priority > available amount.
Without knowing the layout and current traffic in a network distance becomes an almost useless number costing only performance.

If smelter 1 is never used check your signals.
You can make LTN prioritize smelter 1 by giving it higher provide priority than 2-4. The others will only be used once a train is going to smelter 1.

We need opportunity to choose minimal route between reguester and awailable provders. Then choose train from nearest depot.

On low workload bases there is no problems some more calculatiions. But on huge bases like my (2.5k/m) we have big problems with trains.
for example: now i have 2-3 places where i need a lot of iron. And when i have more then 1 smelter trains go from everywhere to everywhere. It's make a lot of collisions. No way to decide it.

Also you can make feature to turn off and on it in settings.

One smelter - the road to nowhere. He will make unreal collisions. (even in 500k/m plates)

I've started a discussion topic about adding provider-requester distance. Feel free to bring in your arguments there.
