So I drove to the end of the world, an endless map. Accurate calculations did not lead but approximately it looks like this:

In one direction, the journey takes about 4 hours on nuclear fuel and two refueling with nuclear fuel, although there is a thought that one is enough, since the second train did not come to zero empty. Judging from the screenshots, 0.17.x

I assume that the cursor position of 9999977.5 means that the world is 2 million by 2 million... squares ...in size? Like x goes from -999999 to +999999?

Yep.
It has been stated officially at some point that +/- 1 mil are the world limits. It could go further but there were some strange issues so limit was added. It's still pretty large as OP shown

Russian: the showed resource patch is 14G of iron ore

Note that the end is just the map generator placing out-of-map tiles there. A plane can go further or you can teleport. And a mod can generate their own tiles and go much further.

Most of modded airplanes can go through it. If the landfill tool has no collision mask, then you can fill the out-of-map like the water tiles.
