Using splitters you can mix items into predictable single lane ratios.

You can preserve the ratio by enabling the belt next to the initial splitter via testing if the previous belt was full.
In this example, the blue chip splitter feed will stop if the previous belt reads < 4. The red / green splitter feed belt starts by reading contents to the next tile, which reads and also stops on red < 8. the next one stops on green < 8.

Here is a use case. A row of beaconed LDS factories. You can use a double sided belt for copper plates and still have room for the output.

The feedback belt compensated for the normalization time of the mixer. It is only really needed for the first few seconds.

Nice idea - imo it doesn't quite fit into the category of "circuit-free" (I wouldn't dare use this without circuits, in my factory that would be a recipe for disaster :P), but I think it could be quite useful.
