17 combinators = +1 filter slot

I built this combinator machine only because i needed to have the stack inserters filter both iron and copper out of a train.
It works by having a clock that basically set the filters to first be iron and then copper, and if the inserters get something in their hands the clock stops until the train leaves.
Just wanted to share this funny (and overcomplicated) thing.

I am confused. What exactly does this do? Tells your inserters to only pull Iron/Copper from the train?

Exactly. He was trying to be able to unload both copper and iron from the train, but since stack filter inserters are limited to one item type, he had to go through a ton of fun trying to get it to toggle between the two so that it can essentially unload both at full rate, regardless of what is in the car.

..and regardless of whats in the box its unloading to??? ...putting them on the same belt...and same side of the belt?

Exactly, and it stops if it gets somthing. say that the train has iron, then when the inserters pick iron, the system detects it and dont even try to take copper since it is only one kind of ore in the train.
it uses the rail signal to start/reset the clock btw

This is my first try to export blueprints instead of recieving.
ps: the chest at the top + 2 combinators is to simulate the rail signal(look at my other image to see how the signals are setup). item in chest = train in station

Why so complicated? If you just switch filters fast enough, you will be able to unload *almost* at the full throughtput. And the setup will be much smaller, like 4 combinators (constant+decider for clock + 2 deciders for filters)

Now it is possible to make it a lot easier (look at some latest developer's notes about circuit network updates with examples)
