First off, full disclosure: I have absolutely no idea if this will ever work, as I have yet to find a way to make the furnace use electricity.

So, as the name suggests, I'm trying to make a mod that adds an electric furnace.
Download version 0.1

To add the mod to your installation simply unzip the file in your factorio folder (on my system that's "D:\Program Files\Factorio"), and let it overwrite and files / folders it tries to.
As of this version all it adds is a white-ish colored version of the furnace, that requires a stone furnace, a few iron places, copper wires and an electronic circuit to craft.

This wont work.
They need to make the furnace energy source dinamic, in future updates, this will work.

You could use the assembly machine instead. Change the pictures, bounding box, etc to match your furnace. Allow just one input slot and create recipies for iron/copper/steel and make them not hand-craftable.

This thing should produce iron/copper/steel plates plates and use electric power for doing so. Only downside is, that you have to set a recipe before it starts working.

That is actually not a bad idea at all.
It might be a weird work around, but it could do the trick.

I plan to add a electric furnace to my mod, but I will wait until energy sourced are dinamic

Haven't really had much time lately, and I found it a little pointless to try now that it will be much easier in the next version.
But good job.
