They enable automatically as long as they're in the aircraft grid.

I don't know enough about how the script works to integrate and maintain it

Yeah fair enough. It seems like just the version number needs to be updated for now, but I can guarantee 0.17 might break it more.

I remembered that nearly two years ago someone requested a non-combat version of this mod, so I have (finally) complied and released the non-combat mode! It disables all aircraft except the cargo plane.

EDIT: 1.5.1 includes German and Japanese translation updates, thanks to ST-DDT and shelaf.

What would be required to make the graphics for entities larger? They look small compared to the helicopter mod.

0.17 update released.

- Updated to 0.17
- Advanced Aerodynamics now requires the "automobilism" and "robotics" technologies.
- Jets no longer requires "Rocket Silo" tech, now instead requires "explosive rocketry".
- Jets now requires Production science packs.
- Flying Fortress now requires "artillery" and "space science pack" technologies, but no longer requires "tanks".
- Flying Fortress now requires all science packs, including space science packs.
- High Explosive Cannon Shells now require "artillery", but no longer requires "tanks".
- All Aircraft now have a burner efficiency of 100%, to bring it in line with vanilla vehicles.
- Added "Inserter Immunity" setting, which gives all Aircraft immune to inserters, except for fuel insertion.

You're doing a very good job in here.

But i think very are 2 possible improvements which would make this mod much better:

- A helicopter, like the one from "helicopters"-Mod (The creator is out of interest in factorio and his mod. So i think, we can/should merge it into your mod)

and/or

- "Aircraft feeling" like the one in "helicopter"-mod mentioned above. (heli is rising and needs starting up space, is non-exact flying in air almost like a airplane should be and so on)

The "aircraft feeling" is almost non existing in here. A airplane/gunship is always/instant in flight. there's no startup time/space required.
It feels just overpowered.
A well-known airplane needs a wide area of space and speed to startup into the clouds and does not this-exactly turn-around or speedup/slowdown.

Another ideas:
- A aircraft base for starting and refueling the jets. The aircraft base (made of concrete) has the advantage of faster starting)
- What about trading routes from air-base-to-base ? would be not overpowered i think

I noticed a new bug that was introduced with 0.17.46/47, where aircraft can take damage from spitter/worm acid that's on the ground. Rolling back to 0.17.45, this doesn't occur.

First of all, my apologies for not asking for permission to use your icon, I didn't find this forum until now.

Secondly, I have a pretty big favor to ask, you by no means have to do this but is it possible for you to make shadowless versions of the airplane sprites for my mod? I tried to hand crop out the shadows but the resulting image is not all that great. By the looks of it, they are generated from a 3D model?

It's alright, I'm not a stickler for permissions.

As for the shadowless sprites, there's actually already shadowless spritesheets in the graphics folder! And yes, they're 3D models. If you want the original models, maybe YoukiTani still has them? He's the one that made them.

Hi all, I'm looking for a new person to maintain the mod because I just lost interest in Factorio a while ago. I have a Reddit thread open in case anyone wants to have some input on this.

EDIT: I'll be taking a look at fixing the bug reported above this before then so don't worry ;)
