It doesn't work. I expanded the range to 30 but the problem is still the same.
When I return to the DNA farm, then there are plenty of corpses direct in front of the collector. But the harvesting process definitely starts only when I am close to the farm.
I've no idea how I could measure the distance between my main location and the farm, in relation to a nearby railroad I would guess it's ~2000 (whatever the measuring unit is).
