This is actually a really nice mod for only one item! Just one thing, it gives a normal burner miner when you break it, so try and fix that.

I fixed up the mod, added research, changed up a bunch of stuff!

This seems really useful.

I would note that this, and the burner generator have, despite being red tech, excessively long research times. 15-20 seconds would be more reasonable.

Thats because i copied the technology from one to the other

Also I'm not really sure if research time is that much of a concern, its about double what the most other red tech itms take (60 secs compared to 30) but i dont think you will be in any great rush to be researching it

At any rate, most of my small mods are implemented in a 'guesswork' of balance, eventually i hope to combine a multitude of my mods into its own great grand game changing mod, in which all research costs will be re-evaluated

If you don't mind I have a suggestion. With this mod maybe add a new tech that unlocks electric mining drills? Possibly costing green science. That way there's an incentive to use this drill.

Hi, have you considered giving the advanced burner mining drill a larger mining area? Possibly one tile outside drill's body, analogous to the electric drill, only it would be 4x4 because burner drill itself is smaller?

This would allow for burner-only coal mining setup (see below) to mine out the patch completely. Right now if you want to use that setup you have to do a second pass to mine out coal left under belts and inserters on the first pass.
