[MOD 0.1.1] Colored Lights

A simple mod that adds 5 colored lamps to the game. Nothing special, but that's the point.

A special thanks to Xterminator for doing a Mod Spotlight Video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bd_S1UK ... e=youtu.be

Features:
  • Red, Green, Blue, Purple, and Yellow lamps
    50 Red Research; requires Optics
Shouldn't have any compatibility issues (it just adds 5 new things and changes nothing to the base game
DON'T: Place a lot of them too close together, or you'll go blind with saturation.

DO:
  • Try placing different colors near each other to get a blended color effect.
Realize that they give a distinct look to specific areas.
Realize that they are pointless. Why did I think I wanted these in the first place?
Realize that, oh yeah, plain white lamps are boring. Now I remember.

Thats cool for Multiplayer.
You can say: The things you need are in the blue sector.
Or when we have chests that we can use a color that we find it faster.

Great!

I'm going to use-abuse-overuse this
Science - Blue lights (becuase movies and stuff)
Power production - Red lights (pollution)
Defence - Yellow lights (same color as alerts)
Solar farms could be green and then assembly area would be purple, or maybe leave it @ uncolored

Awesome awesome awesome! :D I have been wanting new types of lights for a really long time. So thank you! Will be even more epic if you add flood lights in the future.
I am definitely going to do a mod spotlight on this if you don't mind. :)

Hmm good question. I'll have to try out other colors.

Thanks to everyone who has enjoyed the mod. :-)

Hi

I voted for Floodlights, which I think could make a really cool visual. See also this post of mine in another subforum:
https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... =6&t=10291

But even more so than Floodlights, what I'd really like to see is actually a Small Lamp, just a white one, but with 25% of the power consumption of the existing Lamps but also 1/2 the light radius (the physics check out - 1/2 light radius means 1/4 lighted area which is consistent with 25% power consumption).

The regular Lamps use a lot of power, and provide a lot of light, and sometimes that's needed, but in other cases it'd be sufficient with a weaker and less power-hungry Small Lamp.

Those could also be made in coloured versions, but I'm particularly keen on a white light one.

As for materials costs, I don't think it's necessary for the Small Lamps to be cheaper to make. The point is that they're cheaper to power.

Here's hoping this mod gets updated to alpha 12.

And even more so hoping that Small Lamps will also get added to the mod.

@peter it actually works right now, but for a "proper" 0.12 version it needs to add the same circuit network support that regular lamps have.

Please add wiring support for these lights. It would be very good if you can make a circuit network that blinks different colored lamp for different purposes.
