r/Factorio Survey Results

Post by -root »

u/spliffa on reddit ran a survey on r/factorio.

Results Here

It might have some interesting information.

For one, around 50% of the people who responded found the game through youtube...

cheers,

apparently that is a display fail. the writer also mentioned that some more refinement around the youtube questions was needed. i think the numbers are pretty clear though :D lots of people found the game through youtube.

Fail. :D

Yeah was very interesting. To be honest, I think now days YouTube is how most people find games, or at least for me that is the case. Haha
Perhaps some of the things people wanted added will give the devs some ideas as well!

My internal top 13 rankings (based on the most mentioned suggestions here and some own priorities)
(Copy/paste, last edited on dec-27)
- we need to cross water in the very early game (boat, para glider)
- smart-stuff (circuit network and eventually "global network"?)
- train stuff (comfort, rail-laying, routes, building of stations, more automateable (smart), seeing blocks and directions and special map view with occupied blocks/signals, more signal types, handling of all vehicles in the game)
- do something with the water (more aliens, ships, ferries, food, depleting water, and much more...)
- something with the bots and logistics (smarter routes, better logistic options, stack reservations, colored logistic networks (overlapping), limit somehow the maximum size (bots and/or area?))
- bridges (second level of terrain, that enables them)
- roboports (special ports for charge or construction, like with the poles; something like moving roboport, character or special entity?)
- blue printing (save, load, mirror, automated repetitions, overwriting, incomplete handling, inline editing), all in all faster
- one step further after creating rocket defense, eg. Simply really hard fights, impossible strong enemies (for now! How long can you hold it?), or creating the rocket frame...
- the outposts (how to built up far away stations FAST, going over into OpenTTD gameplay with specialized areas in some more or less realistic distances), and the needed extra logistics
- handling of special items ( "heavy items") and the mounting on a "frame" for the spaceship
- something like a "home", throne room, castle.
- more lights, informations on the assemblies etc., more layers of informations and info screens
When I compare the first points with the survey, my guess was not bad. :)
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

i believe he is talking about question 8(If you could change/add one feature in Factorio (current built 0.11.8), what would it be?) from the survey.

Interestingly I need to point to this suggestion:

https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=6&t=7977
Ropeway conveyor above the factory...

I think here was never a suggestion, with that high positive response at the first day.
