Use discussions tab for announcements only?

IMO the mod portal is bad place to try and have discussions, it's never going to be as feature rich as these forums.

What if the discussions tab was changed to "Announcements" tab, and only mod creator can post stuff to it. This way they use it to post announcements (like release notes) relating to mods and nothing else. All other discussion goes to forums (a new meta field could be provided on Edit tab for forum link).

The most recent announcement could be displayed (just title, linked to the full view of the announcement) under the screenshot bar, maybe with blue background and white text to make it distinct from everything else on a mod Information page.

Benefit of having announcement work this way is that say a new Factorio version is released that breaks mod - the modder could post announcement to say they are aware of issue and are working on it. Latest announcement could also appear in the mod UI in game too? Announcements could also be used by modders who are looking for someone to take over dev of their mod.
