Produce meat with biters, fish, or puffers?

Hello all,
What's your best way to produce meat? Is it santa rays? That's what I've been doing but I'm not sure if it's the best.

Your question is very vague. What exactly does “the best” mean?
The least required area?
The least required power consumption?
The earliest available according to tech levels?
Only requiring input ingredients that you have plenty of?
The fewest input ingredients?
Highest yield? (How would you even measure this?)
I don't think there is going to be a "one size fits all" answer to this question. Might even depend on the map topography …

Okay yes it's vague but help me out, which way do you do it? I think in general I'm looking for less power usage and less resource intensive. I think that's santa rays, but I'm not sure.

You can use helper mods to plan the entire production chain – in multiple variations.
They will tell you:
how many machines you need → how much space you need
what the inputs will be (per time)
what the outputs will be (per time)
what the power consumption will be
From there, you can decide for yourself.
I know of at least two alternatives for planner mods:
Helmod:

Factory Planner:

I usually have different sources of meat. Meat can be seen as a way to get rid of excess biters and puffers. Biters are required for crystals / modules, and puffers got a lot of uses recently. But topping up with Santa Rays is a good idea.
