[Lou][2.0.9] Gun turret cannot be rotated

Gun turret cannot be rotated. They used to be rotatable pre Space Age, which was relevant for aesthetic/decorative reasons (guns initially facing in the desired direction).

Perhaps not once placed, but it is possible to set their initial rotation while held in hand, before placement.

Unsure if rotating already-constructed turrets is a completely desired behaviour, since some turrets you want to have always generally facing the same way, and an errant keypress would fiddle with that. For that matter only select entities support emplaced rotation.

Placed turrets can currently be rotated by physically overbuilding in different direction (but not with ghost/remote cursor and nt by the rotation key (except in editor))

This could also have balance consequences in mods (think rotatable flame turrets).

Ideally the mod could decide whether to enable or disable that behaviour ?

Topic refers to "Gun turrets", not other types.

To clarify: "Placed" Gun turrets used to rotatable pre Space Age using the rotate key (100% certain about that), now not anymore.

I've loaded 1.1.110 to re-check this and this is how it used to work:





So basically just as Lou said it works now - you can rotate the turret before placing it, but after it's placed the R key won't work anymore. The only difference between 1.1 and 2.0 is that in 1.1 you couldn't manually put a different rotation turret over an existing one (you got the "Gun Turret is in the way" notification), and that you didn't get the "this cannot be rotated" notification.

There are also some inconsistencies in this, as artillery cannons can be rotated manually. Tested on 2.0.21

To be fair, their lead time is very much non-negligible...
