What are the recommendations for building city-block?

what rules must be followed when building a huge plant so that you will suffer less from a drawdown in productivity?

I play through the Pyanodos-mod

for each recipe, I create a separate block of factories that produce it, and a separate block with the storage of this resource.

at the moment I have:
1,232 active trains
~ 10k logistic drones for local transportation

each new block significantly reduces the performance of the game. the list of stations in the search is spinning with a delay.

can have any advice?

City blocks is lots and lots (and lots and lots) of possible train paths.

Improve the crossings and use less of them.

Very general advice, but this seems to come up way to often in performance problem threads to not be a (if not THE) solution.
