Place power poles without wires?

Is it possible to place power poles without auto connecting electrical wiring?

It would help me when laying out circuit-network-only poles.

I feel like I remember a toggle somewhere or something but I can't find it.

No, they will always be connected when you place a power pole. However, after placing the pole, you can use <SHIFT> + left click once to remove electric wires (repeat to also remove green/red circuit network wires).

You can also selectively disconnect by using copper wire and restringing between poles you would like to disconnect. It does eat a coil of copper wire in the same manner as circuit wires however.

Something else to watch out for, in case you haven't discovered already, is blueprints and copies of your selectively wired poles WILL auto connect, so some cleanup is always necessary afterwards to retain whatever functionality that the selective wiring meant to achieve.
Note: circuit wiring is correctly preserved in this scenario.
