[Solved] How to kickstart no-water, no-power-connection,energy dependend outposts?

I want to create outposts which are not connected to the main base via power lines or pipelines. They only get supplied with fuel/steam by train and it should not matter if they have a water resource nearby or not (no offshore pumps).

I designed an outpost with a station for steam unloading, just to realize, I can not kickstart it, without it being connected to some working power grid initially (or using an offshore pump). I just can not make any electricity to power the pumps for water/steam unloading.

What are your thoughts? Did I miss something?

To me it appears, with the current vanilla technology tree, it is not possible. It seems everything in Factorio depends on that offshore pump, which does not need power.

Solar power to run the train unload pumps? With accumulators for when your train arrives at night?

Did someone say kickstart? How about Hand Crank Generator. Made by the awesome eradicator himself! :twisted:
(You'll have to tweak the mod settings if you want to craft one per outpost.)

You can use also RITEG, that gives energy forever, but the output energy will be twice lower every 12 hours.

I immediately thought of your hand crank generator. :D But I wanted a vanilla solution.

I also use that for all the infrastructure at my nuclear power plant. So the inserters, roboports, pump, etc. always have power on a separate grid and get things running if I run out of power.
