Can't go past 90% efficiency... why?

I have this mod with depos (factorisimo) so I try to make blueprints and put things as tight as possible. *THEORETICALLY* I can get 2 full blue belts with red cards. 5400 red cards per minute. But in practice...? I can't get past 4900. That's 90% efficiency. The main problem is that stack inserters cannot pick items and drop them fast enough. It's a spaghetti, and I tried my absolute best. Tell me what you think.

You can clearly see some lanes with copper cables being almost empty but that's because the game default prioritises certain path, so path 1 gets to eat the cables before path 2. I'm not sure how to fix this.

I think that you might need to use chests as intermediate stage on unloading because dropping on belt will always take longer time.
And my personal opinion - putting copper wire on belts is just.. wrong :P

yeah those are fundamental problems, it would be better to have a buffer like a chest, it would make the inserters move faster but how would I do that? I have no room. I also have loaders available for use but again, no room.

I agree it's not ideal to put copper wire on belts but red cards don't need that much, 1 copper wire machine for each 6 red cards (I think that's the ratio?). It works with green cards to unload directly, 3 copper wire machines to 2 green cards but doesn't work with red cards. Explain how I can fix this please

So if you don't have enough inserters, use more. As always. If you don't have space to use more then just be proud of how far you got? Just because you can place X assemblers in a factory doesn't mean there's enough space to have them all fully working, you simply overplanned. That said - it's difficult to see on the pictures - but it looks like you're wasting a full row of space in front of every assembler row which could be freed by moving the longserters into the same row as the stackserters?

use more? I attached a pic to show you what it looks like and I did say... I don't see any more room. You tell me how I can put more. That's why I came here, I can't come up with better ideas. I'm not a genius, but there are geniuses around these forums, I learned a lot of great and interesting/clever ways from other factorio players.

I wouldn't say overplanned. It's invert proportional... less room I have, more machines being used. Sure, I could delete 10% of the red card machines and boom, 100% efficiency. With 10% space wasted. My logic was that since the inserters are not 100% accurate and fluid, and the red card machines use modules... in a normal vanilla world, you'd first upgrade the copper cable machines and boom, 100% efficiency.

I get what you mean with the ''wasted row'', I just realised after you showed me the picture. Initially there were copper cables coming horizontally, not vertically... so yes, it is indeed wasted space and I need to redesign it, thanks.

Thanks for the post and at least form your porst I learned how to post blueprints properly here, but come on. Can we all agree that logistics robots are cheats? Getting items from point A to point B is one of the core problem-solving issues here in factorio. Using logistics robots throws all of that out the window, no need to use your brain, just put a blue chest there, red chest here, done, afk.

Reality doesn't care what *you* would say. If you have a space contraint without a way to fit your target production into it, then you overplanned. It's that simple. There's no additional logic to it. By eliminating 8 rows in a 60 high room you gained 13% more space which you used to increase production by 9%. As these two numbers are almost equal which means you're too close to maximum density to make any larger leaps.

Side node: As others have said, if you have beacons + loaders there's probably still room for an increase in production capacity if you can fit enough input belts.

Congrats on reaching 99%. Inserters are shitty are grabbing stuff with the right timing, so you might be able to squeze the last 1% with a timing circuit (probably on the copper wire output?). It does look like you're still only using one output inserter for copper wires though. If you have loaders available i'd try those for unloading the copper wire.
