It appears I am no longer able to queue up research. There was a place in settings that you could set but it is gone now.

It's a startup setting, and can only be changed by the console once ingame.

It has been a map setting since the feature was introduced with 0.17.
It also automatically unlocks when you launch the first rocket of the map if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, big boss removed the queue (I don't think it was in vanilla yet, just planned?) As he didn't want people blitzing through research if they are new to the game, a little bit of community debate ensued, and it was readded but with the rocket launch first caveat.
