Stoping approaching trains

Post by brunzenstein » Tue Feb 05, 2019 9:34 am

Is there a way (with combinators) to set up a save rail passing allowing standing (accidentally being trapped) on the track between already closed gates and stopping the coming train by signals - but not letting the train run into a wall on the rail itself to stop him.

Could not get the gates to close. Am i missing something?
[EDIT]
Are you using circuit conditions to open the gate?

The gates will close as soon as a train arrives and you still stand on the track - so your trapped

I remember someone managed to wire up a solution to this where a walking path had gates which would not open unless the train traffic had been stopped. I looked around some to try to find it but was unsuccessful.

Only happens if you are to far from the gate sensor. And then you can't use the sensor to stop the train by turning the signals to red.

It works - thanks!
After going over it, I think I understand how it works - you a Factorio genius indeed.
Its an excellent solution for a nasty problem that works EVEN without combinators :D - you should post e.g. provide this to WUBE so they may enter it to their planned help cards and the Factorio wiki - or even better you place it into the wiki.
