Struggling With Train Schedules

Post by Zerro »

Greetings,

On [0.16.27]

I thought that this would be easy and more straight forward compared to building junctions and things :P

So I set my Train Schedule to:
Iron1 - Wait Until Empty Cargo Inventory
IronDepot1 - Wait Until Full Cargo Inventory

I've watched my train at both stations and once the condition is met, the train just sits there. For the time being I've added a (Time Passed) condition to both of them but I would rather the above two to work first. Am I doing something wrong or is there a bug with those two wait conditions?

I'm not sure what Iron1 and IronDepot are, but you probably set things up backwards by accident. Remember that:

* Trains visit Mines until they are full
* Trains dunk ore at smelters until they are empty
* Trains pick up plates from the smelters until they are full
* Trains deliver plates to home base until they are empty.

Be very careful of contaminants in your trains! If something silly like a piece of coal gets into the train, that 1/50 coal will make the train think it never filled up.

Oh I'm sorry, those are my TrainStop names.

Iron1 is where the train loads up on Ore.
IronDepot is where it unloads the Ore.

I looked at my train sitting at the ore patch. Cargo was full of Ore, Loco full of Coal. I didn't see any abnormalities

Looks like the answer is right in front of you. Ya set it up backwards. Grab ore from the mine until full. Deliver the ore to the smelters until empty.

The game defines "Full" and "empty" in terms of all the storage options attached to the train (fuel doesn't matter). If you train has 4 cargo wagons and only fills up 2, it will NEVER be considered full. If it fills up the cargo wagons but not the fluid wagons, it will never be full. Pick one or two simple train setups and make station blueprints so they all get serviced the same way.
