Best Steel Chest Storage Setup?

Post by CommandMan7 »

I'm just wondering what is the best way to set up Fast Inserter and Steel chests to combine Speed and Capacity, enough to fill a express lane both sides coming in and out in the smallest amount of space. Quick and Easy post, just a simple question.

Not directly an answer, but Cascading splitters are definitely one (of some more) answers to this question!

Not directly an answer / a bit off topic:
The "best way" to make an efficient "storage" is to put a "small" logistic network departed from your main, place hundreds of storage chests inside and feed the items in it and out of it with a number of belts.

The input belts (belts directing into the storage) could be feed with "anything", you can mix the items on it in any way you want, cause the robots will sort the stuff for you. The output can be very complicated into many different directions/parallel belts. Cause the storage is realtively small, the robots have no long ways and only hundret robots only will have a really high throughput of some thousand items per minute.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.
