How do I delete unwanted items? [Sandbox Mode]

Hi,
I'm just now getting into Factorio Sandbox Mode (I have around 600 hours in normal mode and I wanted to try something new), and I don't see any way to do away with unwanted items in my inventory. Is it possible to simply delete items?

Put the stuff you don't need anymore into a chest... grab the shotgun and destroy the chest. Problem solved.

That's just the issue. I'm in sandbox mode, so there is no physical manifestation of the player. Thus, I have no way to destroy a chest full of items.

Ah well, didn't try sandbox mode yet, so I didn't know that there is no physical manifestation of your character.

Well then... I guess that's truly an issue then.

Use grenades

Use the most expensive garbage bin, rockets.
Shoot unwanted items into space, one stack a time.

Joking aside you can also put them in a car parked on train tracks and let a train smash the car for you.

Putting the car next to a Biter base might work too.

Creative Chests

Creative Chests are chests with unlimited amount of items. They can also destroy your items. Use it for blueprints with perfect ratio, but not for the game.

Hallo fellow Factorians!

After I have found this thread I installed Creative Chests and it worked like a charm for my sandbox testing ground.
But it seems that the new GUI has killed the checkbox for destroying items in a creative chest.

So we are back at the problem of how to destroy items in sandbox again, at least until darkfrei updates his mod.
