Tank Wagon Mechanics

So I'm just now getting into the intermediate stages of this game and I'm toying around with some of the modded content (I'm pretty sure the Tank Train Car isn't vanilla unless I'm mistaken..) As it stands, I've been having trouble actually transferring piped contents into the tanker car and I was wondering if anyone had any experience working with this particular mechanic and if they'd be willing to impart their almighty knowledge
