How to deconstruct a pipe behind a tree?
Is there a way to deconstruct a pipe behind a tree without using bots or chopping down the tree? It's the first tree i ever planted so i don't want to chop it down

Research automated construction.
Make sure there are no construction bots in the area.
Mark the pipe and tree for deconstruction.
Hold shift to cancel the tree for deconstruction.

I wish we could regrow trees and plants in vanilla,
I would go all nuts in the green house,
now I have to go to map editor

Get a car or tank and slowly damage it from above until it's destroyed. Be careful not to hit the tree.British_Petroleum wrote:Is there a way to deconstruct a pipe behind a tree without using bots or chopping down the tree? It's the first tree i ever planted so i don't want to chop it down
Technically not deconstructing, but hey, it's just a pipe and that tree seems important to you.

I like that idea.daniel34 wrote:Get a car or tank and slowly damage it from above until it's destroyed. Be careful not to hit the tree.British_Petroleum wrote:...

I would extend it a little bit by suggesting going from the side though. It requires more care to line up so that you're just hitting the (top part of) the pipe, but then you don't have to worry about overrunning it and hitting the tree.
Also, there either needs to be no construction bots with access to a replacement pipe, a right-click (sounds like that won't work by the positioning) to remove the ghost... or he will need to leave the car/tank parked on the spot for the half-hour it takes the ghost to despawn. My feelings go out to the poor construction bot that's going to hover over the spot waiting the entire time.
E: A fourth solution would be to construct a large building on the spot to squash the ghost, and then remove that building manually (since it's big enough to target directly).

Fifth solution - place radar, make a lot of pollution. biters will remove everything but the tree

Shooting it would require selecting it first, which is not possible otherwise he could mine it the same way.Jupiter wrote:shoot it?
Shooting it with a shotgun could have unintended consequences for the tree, but might be possible with very careful distance-keeping.
