I'm not sure what exactly you mean.

If you want to automate the fuel filling of drills or furnaces, all you need is an inserter and a source with coal (or other fuel), which could be a chest or a belt.

So probably I put he inserter on the wrong side... Is there only one side to put the inserter on?
And one more: Ot there a way to split a belt in two?

Any side is good, maybe your inserter is not facing the right direction? Can you post a screenshot? You can rotate the inserter if you hover the cursor over it, and press 'r'. To make sure it is facing the correct direction, press 'alt'.

Many thanks for helping a bloody beginner.
The game is very addictive even I'm not a 'gamer'
My only problem is the MacBook I use is not capable to mimic with the trackpad the left/right mouse clicks.
Any hint?

Strongly suggest buying a mouse. Games like factorio work so much better that way.

To do the right-click thing, here is a few suggestions: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/five-ways-to ... -trackpad/
