Factorio TidBits - Help for New Players

I have a little series going very short videos on different topics in the game for those who need a little more explanation on one topic or another. I'm open to other areas which may need to be covered. I plan to cover short-cut keys as well as there are many that are SUPER useful but may not be obvious to new players.

Not perfect, but just trying to get new players comfortable with the game enough to discover how fabulous it is. A lot of this game is finding out your own playstyle and not necessarily going for the absolute perfect ratios right away.

Trains.

Seriously, playing Factorio now for 80+ Hours, I still don't understand most of the trains.
What I learned so far is using two locomotives is useful so that it can go in both directions. But I still have no clue what's the difference between the signal and the chain signal or what they actually do. I usually end up with just one train and a single track and having that single train do all the work.

So it would be usefull if you could make a tutorial about what each component does (no need to get any more into detail about the different strategies for tunrabouts etc. as that would be more advanced and might confuse New Players more than anything).

I second that one. It's a bit of a mystery to me...

Another interesting thing might be biter evolution. Small alien bases are dead meat when you get the heavy armor and armor piercing ammo unless they have some massive worm stuff. So I went in guns blazing and was overrun by medium biters, when they evolved. I should have improved my defense...

Trains I'd definitely do videos on. Also, introduction to logistics robots and whatnot are good. Other suggestions: power armor, vehicles, combat drones, and maybe showing what each weapon does and some good practice information on each.

It is not really that advanced but just to include it, there could be a video on how to protect your base or how to start counterattacks. Especially on steam i notice people having problems withthe basic concepts of the game.

Transportation possibilities in general would also be good. The video could contain a brief overview of possibilities like belts, train loading and unloading, automobilism...

There could be as well a short video about how install and manage mods.

If this is within your area of expertise videos about how to create simple mods would be helpful as well. I only found about 5 videos about creating mods on youtube (the one by klonan was very helpful, three others were not helpful and one I could not understand, because it was Russian).
