Manual pole cable wiring stopped working

So I just got the new Space Age DLC and if I remember correctly before that I could just click on two electric poles to manually wire them (like here
https://wiki.factorio.com/Copper_cable). I still can disconnect them using shift+left click, but can't connect them back. When I try to left click on the electiric pole holding copper cable in my hand it just instantly opens electric network info menu. BTW I have default controls settings layout.

I suspect your confusion is because you are trying to use copper cable item (one that is crafted inside of assembling machines that is used for crafting green chips). This is not the item you want to use for manually adding copper wires now. In the shortcut bar there is a "make green wire" shortcut that gives you the copper wire (shortcut Alt+C) that can be used for rewiring poles.
"Copper cable" -> consumable, crafted in assembler, does not work for wiring poles.
"Copper wire" -> tool, obtained by Alt+C or shortcut bar, allows rewiring poles.

Thanks a lot, that was it!

sorry to ask. I have trouble to set up a switch, a tank and a pump. I've done that 3 4 times before 2.0.
I thought red and green are for signals and copper is for power. Am I wrong?
My issue is I cannot get power as if I select copper wire and try to connect the power pole to the switch it will not connect anything. instead the popup/dialog opens, which show the details of the clicked object.
If I connect all three with red wires it doesn't work as the pump gets no power.

You never connect a copper cable directly to a building to supply power. Instead, you put it in range of a power pole:
