Is it possible without right click?

I'm theory crafting a run right now and I'm currently bottle necked on two things. I need a seed with stone, coal, and iron all touching on a 2x2 tile for the burner drill with prioritizing coal. So far, I've found one seed that meets this but the drill keeps prioritizing stone instead of coal. The next bottle neck is getting more wood other than the one wood you start with. You need the first wood for the burner drill, so you need another for the small electric pole for labs. If anyone finds a seed that meets this, I'm 100% willing to sit through the agony to prove the runs possible.

With mods, it would be very possible. Companion Drones could clear the trees/rocks for you, giving you access to the plethora of wood that you cannot mine yourself. Simply adding a second Wood to your inventory to start would at least get you past the “how do I use this wood for both power pole and fuel” issue.

Without mods, though, you are kind of stuck. I dont believe that the Pistol and ammo you start with is enough to destroy a coal-bearing rock (which would give you the fuel for the burner miner).

By the way - the priority for the Burner Miner in that setup should not matter, as you can just use the 8 Iron Plate to make an Iron Box, can’t you? But even then you need both power poles and fuel …

I think you already have your answer, the one piece of wood is the only source of fuel but also the only source of power poles, so this concept doesn't work even if you solve the drill problem.

Ammo is unlimited if you play with biters, but destroying a huge rock does not create coal.

I'd prefer to do it without mods or cheats if possible. Thats the bottle neck that I'm running into is the lack of wood. Do you think the ship crashing at the start counts if it hits a tree? Kinda like when the car mines trees when you slam them. If so would it be possible to start with more wood off spawn without cheats or mods? I'd test it myself, but I don't know how. As for the burner patch issue, is there a way to dictate what it mines or is it just random?

Running over tress doesn't mine them, just destroys them. If that worked, you could just shoot a tree with your starting ammo to get 4 wood, but you don't get the mine result unless you mine it.

From a quick test, miners are unpredictable. Newly placed ones can mine any of the ore under them, with nothing obvious about the order.
