Strategy - utility trains

Post by zOldBulldog »

I am trying to evolve my factorio strategy for more effective expansions. One of the things I'm considering is to use blueprints and utility trains to achieve things easier/faster. Ideas, advice and even blueprints for the types of utility trains that I could use would greatly welcome.

In the past I used the following utility trains:

- PAX train. A train that I use to carry random materials as I go around the map building stuff. Messy and manually loaded, but handy, especially early on.
- Artillery outpost builder train. As I expand I place a blueprint, that builds a station with roboports from materials I carry. The station calls a train and once its supplies arrive it builds the outpost. Ammo or artillery trains get called as needed until it becomes inactive, at which point I initiate disassembly and move it forward on the rail's path.
- Mine outpost builder train.
