Hello. I am looking for ways to detect ghost and damaged entities for the purpose of power switching on a roboport.
The detection method should not include another roboport.
Any idea?

You can detect destroyed stuff if you connect them all with a circuit wire.
1. Connect wire in series to everything that has to be monitored
2. attach constant combinatsor at one end
3. check if signals from constant combinators reaches it
If the signals does not reach the other side it means the wire connection is broken and that can only happen by biter attacks.
You can even do a continuous wall with this.
It detects a breach in the wall even if its just 1 block wide.
For full coverage you just have to alternate between walls and gates. You can have at most 2 walls or 2 gates in a row but the cheapest is probably:
WALL - WALL - GATE - WALL - WALL - GATE - WALL - WALL - GATE - WALL - WALL - GATE - WALL - WALL

Nothing really has to update if the walls dont break. Is this technically even UPS friendly?

Gates are a possibility. They do have the same HP and resists as walls.
My dilemma is that I switch off the entire outpost via

If I use a roboport to count bots as the detector, then it will not be updated again.
But I would like to further conserve power by switching off roboports when all the bots are docked. But the bots will not leave when ports are fully unpowered because they will no longer have a logi or construction radius.

But what I suggested does not need any power???
Just connect it to a power switch instead of a lamp and set it to turn on if there is no signal.
