3D printed Factorio models

Art that you have created yourself (draw, paint, craft, cosplay, video, wallpaper, ...) with and around Factorio.

NOT for screenshots or videos of the actual game and discussions around them (for that, see "Show your creations").

3D printed Factorio models

Post by DaveFactorio »

Hi

I would really like to 3D-print some Factorio models.
Is there a way to LEGALLY get blender files of the original models?

I have no commercial intentions, just create some 3D prints and post nice pictures of them on the forums

Dave

Work has started on the electrolyzer as used in Bob's mod.

Step 1: Rough building 3D print https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WwXMM ... cAH8M9Oph0
Step 2: Added more detail: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1InEG4 ... GuXzDDkWUC
Step 3: Color! https://drive.google.com/open?id=147GLM ... XiBtBxyzEs
Step 4: Added small pipes https://drive.google.com/open?id=1YhsJ8 ... 60eb24Cnk8

Looks great.

So... are you a megabase player? You are going to need more plastic :)

Don't worry olafthecat, this model is only a couple of centimeters in size, and I won't print hundreds of them :)

With the christmas holidays long gone, I'm back at my daytime job again so there has been little time to continue the model. Thanks for the replies guys, I'll pick it up soon and post new pictures.

Added thin electrical wire to simulate thin fluid or gas pipes. This electrolyzer is pretty much done now

Ooooh!
Snazzy!
Can you add some colour variation, or even some rust?

Hi YuokiTani

It's never too late!
If I got the stl file, I could make a better one than the one I have now...
I'd make it bigger to add more detail.

I actually got a message from Bobingabout (Bob's mods) where he mentioned you actually designed the models and sprites he uses in his mods.
First of all, nice work to you, because they look really nice!

I'd be happy with any blender or stl file to make more prints.

So I accidently printed what I thought was a small green assembling machine. I kicked off the print job while my 3d printer was at work and then went home. I did not look at the description or the scale. When I cam in on Monday I had used an entire spool of abs. I just happened to use green (the same color as the third assembling machines) Turns out its pretty cool but heavy!

Very nice!!

I guess as a phone dock, it's really supposed to be this massive, but maybe the printing density was also set too high if you used almost an entire spool of plastic?
This print is actually on www.thingiverse.com, if anyone is looking for it. Just search for 'factorio' and it'll pop right up
