It would make sense for better ammo to have longer range as this is the case in real world as well. However, the range change should be minor unless it come with other balancing. Even +1 for each ammo upgrade would be a significant improvement. It would definitely help with protecting corners which are weak spots.

just add flame frower turrets to your defense.

I think its good, that the turrets have different pros and cons and using only one type is just boring
