so raw wood which is unpredictably in form, though not cut, you can stack to 100 in 1 stack and - the cut wood which should fit together *perfectly stacks to only 50? How does that make sense?

You have to place spacers in between the planks, so it can properly dry...

I agree with the OP (original poster) that it does not make sense.

Also, from a gameplay perspective, it would be meaningful to have cut up wood take less space.

To go even further for consistency sake raw wood should be like any other raw material like iron ore and stack to 50 while processed wood should perfectly stack to 100 like all other materials do like iron plates in this case.

But this is such a minor tweak... the only issue here is how much energy can a full stack hold in case of being burnt as fuel. This should be considered closely as if I remember right you get 2 processed wood from one log and this change will half stack fuel value

No, the biggest consideration is using bots to clear trees. It used to stack to 50 but it was a real pain with how often you had to clear your inventory. I thought it was 200 now? Been a while since I played, maybe that was Bob's Mods.

Raw wood stacks to 100 and has a fuel value of 4MJ. Wood stacks to 50 and has a fuel value of 2MJ. You get 2 Wood from a single piece of Raw Wood. Allowing Wood to stack up to 200 would have still have the same fuel value as a full stack of Raw Wood.
