[2.0.13] Ice levels in Nauvis orbit too low

So when building a new ship around Nauvis it can take literal hours to fill up 1 tank with water. If I am building a larger ship and I want it to you know... be full before I send it out it's far FAR quicker to send out another ship to pick up some ice. All while I am dumping truckloads of metal fragments overboard because that's almost all I am picking up. I could build ships around other planets; Volcanus would be nice since I can make vast amounts of space-floor for cheap. However, you get the larger rocks there and they'd bust up the ship while it was being built. So maybe not. Anywho this just adds tedium imo.

I definitely feel this. The only way to get a large amount of material quickly is to actually set off and travel; but if you're waiting forever for your engines to spool initially it definitely sucks.
There is an "asteroid spawn rate" slider in the world settings that I contemplated cranking up to max, but was worried it would cause interplanetary travel to require 4x the production of ammo so held off. What I wanted was just more of the grabbable asteroids, not necessarily more of the ones that I have to shoot down (though wouldn't mind that as its own setting either)

Have you tried the reprocessing recipes you get from Vulcanus?

You do have to actually get there first in order to take advantage of that

Yes? I don't see the issue. You don't need very much in the way of a platform to get to Vulcanus, and you only need to make the trip once. Then any bigger platforms later on can use reprocessing to speed up the fueling process.

if there is no difference between planet it would be boring, nauvis have low income in space and that by design, aquilo have tons of ice for example. You need to take into account that nauvis is good for building space platform but not for farming in space, so you need to build your space platform with this fact. I'm opposed to buff ice on nauvis just because "it's slow". IMO your space platform should be design by keeping in mind this problem.

Is this really a problem though?
You get enough ice to continuously run one chem plant of fuel/oxidizer production (at least I've never seen it stall due to lack of water), and when moving you usually have way more asteroids of any type than you can process anyway (at least on the inner planets)?

And much more if you have the research for asteroid productivity, which is infinite !

for spooling up you can send barrels of water

Send water barrels into orbit. But really, you get enough ice to start moving, and the ice picks up fast enough once you do.
